"Some age, others mature."-Sean Connery. How true of a quote and how appropriate considering the man who said it. A career and a life that only seemed to get better with age, Sean Connery left this world a legend. 2020 continues to deal blow after blow but let's take a few moments to remember a man who transcended time and genre.

  1.  He was enrolled in the Royal Navy at the age of 16 and acquired a tattoo that says “Scotland Forever” at the same time.
  2. Despite being known as Sean, the actor’s first name is Thomas, and he was referred to as Tommy in his youth.
  3.  He turned down  Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings series claiming he couldn’t understand the novels and wasn’t excited about filming in New Zealand.
  4. He won an Academy Award in 1988 for “The Untouchables.”
  5. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2000.
  6. He officially retired from acting in 2005.
  7. He played James Bond in 5 consecutive Bond films (he was the first Bond) from 1962 to 1967.
  8.  He reportedly turned down an offer to play for Manchester United as he thought a career in football would be too short relative to an acting career.
  9. He often donated his salaries from his acting roles to various charities.
  10. He passed away at the age of 90 on October 31, 2020 at his home in the Bahamas
